The History of Columbia University.

Columbia University is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the United States. Founded in 1754 with the first classes starting in July of the same year. It was originally called King’s College by the royal charter of King George II of England. The university is the fifth oldest institution of higher education in the country and one of only nine colonial colleges founded before the American Revolution.

In 1767 the university started it’s first medical academic program and the University was renamed Columbia College in 1784.  It received its second charter after the Revolutionary War, and then was re-named Columbia University in 1896 when it became a private university.

Today, Columbia University is an internationally recognized research university with more than 20 schools and institutes, including highly ranked programs in medicine, business, law, journalism, and the arts and sciences.

With over 250 degree programs and some of the most qualified faculty in the world, Columbia students have the opportunity to receive an unparalleled education. The university offers a wide range of majors, from the traditional liberal arts to cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields.

In fact, Columbia has produced more Nobel Prize winners than any other university in the United States! When you attend Columbia, you can be confident that you’re receiving a top-notch education from one of the best universities in the world.

The Student Body of Columbia University.

The student body of Columbia University is one of the most diverse in the United States. The school has students from nearly all the US states and more than 100 countries. Columbia also has a large number of international students.

In addition to its diversity, Columbia is also one of the most selective universities in the country. The school has an acceptance rate of only 5.5% in 2021/22. This means that for every 100 students who apply, only just over five are accepted. This makes Columbia one of the most competitive schools in the country.

Despite its competitiveness, Columbia is also one of the most popular universities in the country. More than 54,000 students applied to the school this year.

In addition to its excellent location and academics, another reason why Columbia University is such a great choice for college is its diverse community. Students from all over the world come to study at Columbia, which creates a truly global learning environment.

This diversity also means that there are always people around to share your interests and experiences with. Whether you’re looking for someone to explore NYC with or just someone to have dinner with who understands your culture, you’re sure to find it at Columbia.
