Breaking news from Afghanistan…
Official UN Security Council Statement by Council President Ruchira Kamboj (India).
The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist attack on innocent students and children at the religious school in Aybak, in the Samangan province, on 30 November. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 20 students and children, and a dozen wounded.
The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, and they wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.
The members of the Security Council called on all relevant parties to respect and ensure the safety and security of civilians, including children, and secure all educational facilities.
The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to peace and security in Afghanistan, as well as in the world.
The members of the Security Council underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice. They urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with all relevant authorities in this regard.
The members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed.

Other reports idicated the terrorist bomb exploded at midday prayers at the Al Jihad madrassa. The exact amount of dead and injured are still to be officially confirmed.
Taliban take over Radio Station.
In a seperate incident this week the Talaban have taken over Radio Ashna the Voice of America radio station. VOA who have a annual agreement were dissapointed and said it makes it much harder to reach their weekly 7.3 million Afghan listeners. Voice of America have other broadcasting options including a TV satellite channel and short wave radio transmitters which they stated they will now be utilizing.
