Trailhead LLC has embarked on an extraordinary journey with a Shinto priest in tow, as they kickstart the “Takachiho Adventure Tourism Council.”
This initiative, established in collaboration with representative Yu Fukushima, the Takachiho Town Hall, and local businesses, promises to unravel the secrets of the mystical Takachiho through the creation of the “Mythology Trekking Tour with Shinto Priests.”
Join them for an enchanting experience that will let you immerse your senses in the mythical tapestry of Takachiho, guided by the chief priest of Mt. Nijo, the revered mountain of Tenson Korin.
Discovering the Myths of Takachiho
Prepare for an adventure like no other as you embark on a trek that allows you to explore the hidden gems of Takachiho, a locale steeped in mythological significance.
Climb Mt. Futagamiyama, where the descendants of gods are said to have descended, under the guidance of Shigehiro Kai, the chief priest of Futagami Shrine located at the mountain’s base.

From the summit of Mt. Kaminoyama, treat yourself to a breathtaking panoramic view of Takachiho Town, a UNESCO Eco Park since 2012. The maintenance team meticulously maintains the mountain trail, creating a manageable 20-minute hike, suitable even for less experienced trekkers.

About the Takachiho Adventure Tourism Council
Trailhead LLC, headquartered in the charming Takachiho Town of Miyazaki Prefecture, is on a mission to open the door to the great outdoors of Takachiho. The brainchild of Yu Fukushima, a retiree from the regional revitalization cooperation team in Takachiho Town, this joint venture company was born with the aim of promoting outdoor activities in the region.
To bring this vision to life, Trailhead joined forces with the Takachiho Town Planning and Tourism Division to establish the Takachiho Adventure Tourism Council.
