In a compelling address to the United Nations, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine sounded the alarm on Russia’s sinister tactics in the ongoing conflict. He revealed that Russia, in its aggressive stance, has been weaponizing not just conventional arms but also critical elements like food, energy, and even children.
A Global Food Crisis in the Making
President Zelenskyy explained that Russia’s blockade of Ukrainian ports in the Black and Azov seas, along with the targeting of Ukrainian ports on the Danube River with drones and missiles, is part of a calculated strategy. The aim is to weaponize food scarcity on the global market, using it as leverage for the recognition of the territories it has captured.
“It is a clear Russian attempt to weaponize the food shortage on the global market, in exchange for recognition of some, if not all, of the captured territories,” President Zelenskyy stated.

“Nukes are not the scariest thing now. Mass destruction is gaining momentum. The aggressor is weaponizing many other things … things that are being used not only against our country but also yours as well,” he warned.

President Zelenskyy stressed that while the immediate impact may be felt in Ukraine, the repercussions of this weaponization of essential resources are global in scale.
“There are many conventions against weapons but none against weaponization … of global food supplies and energy,” he pointed out.

The Ukrainian leader revealed another grim facet of Russia’s aggression: the mass kidnapping and deportation of Ukrainian children. He described this as a blatant act of genocide, stating that Russian authorities have been systematically severing ties between these children and their families, indoctrinating them with hatred toward Ukraine.
“When hatred is weaponized against one nation, it never stops there,” President Zelenskyy emphasized.
A Call for Unity and a Path to Peace
With unwavering determination and a plea for international unity, President Zelenskyy unveiled his ambitious plan. He revealed his intention to introduce the “Ukrainian Peace Formula” at the Security Council. This groundbreaking formula is designed to serve as a transparent framework, empowering the victimized country to openly set the terms for ending aggression.

“Every nation must be restrained, war crimes must be punished, deported people must come back home, and the occupier must return to their own land,” he declared.
