Expanding Operations for Lifesaving Assistance
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) applauds the European Union’s support in bolstering logistics for aid hubs, facilitating the transport of critical relief to Gaza.
Collaboration with the Egyptian Red Crescent
Under the European Humanitarian Response Capacity, the European Commission provides vital resources to enhance inter-agency storage and cargo operations. The WFP-led Logistics Cluster collaborates closely with the Egyptian Red Crescent, facilitating international aid reception, storage, and dispatch into Gaza.
Essential Equipment Donation
The European Commission’s contribution includes 29 prefabricated storage tents, four inflatable cold rooms, four freezers, and eight refrigerators. Procured by the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD), these resources will significantly expand storage space in Al Arish.
Alleviating Critical Needs in Gaza
Andreas Papaconstantinou, DG ECHO’s director, emphasizes the EU’s commitment to humanitarian assistance. The EU has quadrupled aid to Gaza to over EUR 100 million, focusing on crucial access for delivering essentials like food, water, shelter, and medication.
Transport and Logistics Support
The EU organizes and covers transport costs for the equipment, dispatching it through UNHRD-managed flights. The logistics coordination teams are collaborating to increase the flow of aid through the Rafah border crossing.

Walid Ibrahim, UNHRD Network Coordinator, praises the EU’s timely support, expanding local capacity to provide lifelines to Gaza amidst growing critical needs.
