Holcim Philippines: Pioneering Sustainable Building Solutions
In a significant development for the construction industry in the Philippines, Holcim Philippines has inaugurated its first innovation hub facility in Davao City. This groundbreaking initiative is set to transform the building solutions landscape in the country.
A Hub for Sustainable Construction
Showcasing Global Innovations Locally
Horia Adrian, President and Chief Operating Officer of Holcim Philippines, highlighted that the innovation hub will showcase sustainable building solutions. It serves as a co-creation lab, mirroring the global Holcim Innovation Hub located in France. The facility aims to accelerate the development of low-carbon, circular, and energy-efficient structures, both locally and worldwide.
Virtual Experiences and Advanced Materials
The innovation hub allows clients and partners to virtually experience the global Holcim innovations. It will feature exciting new materials for more sustainable and innovative construction, including low-carbon materials like ECOPact concrete and ECOPlanet cement.
Commitment to Environmental Sustainability
Innovations for Urbanizing Mindanao
Adrian emphasized the importance of the hub in supporting the Philippines’ development, especially in rapidly urbanizing areas like Mindanao. The hub is crucial for building essential structures with minimal environmental impact, aligning with Holcim’s commitment to sustainable development.
Showroom of Eco-Friendly Solutions
Holcim’s showroom at the hub features innovative solutions for decarbonizing buildings throughout their lifecycle. This includes their proprietary ECOCycle® circular technology platform, which recycles construction and demolition materials into new building solutions.
Leading the Way in Green Construction
Accelerating Sustainable Transformation
Ramakrishna Maganti, Holcim’s Senior Vice President and Head of Infrastructure and Industrial Sales stressed the company’s role in transforming the building solutions sector. Focusing on decarbonization and circular economy, Holcim is at the forefront of creating a net-zero future that benefits both people and the planet.
Holcim’s Environmental Milestones
Since 2018, Holcim Philippines has significantly reduced its carbon footprint by over 20 percent. This achievement comes from producing more blended cement, replacing coal with qualified waste as alternative fuels, and enhancing operational efficiency.
