This December, Loudoun County is offering free mental health education and substance abuse prevention trainings to its residents.
These programs are designed to enhance community well-being, equip individuals with life-saving skills, and address the pressing challenges of mental health and substance misuse.
Adverse Childhood Experiences Training
Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) training helps participants understand how traumatic events in childhood can impact long-term health. It highlights prevention as a cornerstone for healthier communities.
- When: Monday, December 9, 2024, 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
- Where: Virtual session

The one-hour presentation is followed by a Q&A session, encouraging attendees to explore ways to support affected individuals.
Mental Health First Aid
Mental Health First Aid trains individuals to identify and respond to mental health and substance use challenges. Loudoun offers sessions tailored for adults and youth.

Participants will gain essential tools to assist someone in crisis or to address early warning signs of mental health issues.
Opioid Overdose Reversal Training
The REVIVE! program provides critical education on recognizing and responding to opioid overdoses using naloxone.
- Rapid REVIVE!: A six-minute video course available anytime. No registration required.

- Time: 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Participants who complete REVIVE! are eligible for free naloxone nasal spray, available by mail or pickup.
Suicide Prevention Training
The Question Persuade Refer (QPR) training teaches three actionable steps to prevent suicide by recognizing warning signs and offering support.
- When: Monday, December 16, 2024, 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

This one-hour session provides an opportunity to practice skills and gain confidence in helping others.
