Residents Can Help Shape the City’s Next Law Enforcement Leader
Phoenix residents now have a unique opportunity to influence the future of local policing. As the city nears the final stages of selecting a new Police Chief, officials are inviting the public to provide feedback and submit questions for the upcoming Police Chief Finalist Forum.
Community Participation in the Selection Process
For the first time in over two years, Phoenix is looking to fill the Police Chief position permanently. The city has been working with an executive search firm to conduct a nationwide search for a candidate who embodies professionalism, accountability, and modern policing principles.
To ensure an inclusive and transparent process, residents are encouraged to submit questions for the finalists and share their perspectives on what qualities the next Police Chief should possess.
A survey—available in English and Spanish—allows residents to voice their opinions on:
- The leadership attributes they believe are essential.
- The priorities that will help build trust and improve safety.
- Questions they would like the candidates to answer during the Finalist Forum.
How the Selection Process Works
City officials will carefully review resumes to determine the most qualified candidates. A panel of city leaders, business representatives, and community members will conduct initial interviews to assess each applicant’s experience and leadership abilities.
Once the finalists are chosen, they will participate in a public forum where residents can hear their perspectives on law enforcement, public safety, and community engagement.
The event will take place at the Phoenix City Council Chambers, and we will broadcast it live on PHXTV and YouTube for those unable to attend in person.
