AmeriCorps has released a study revealing that the Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps (ALCC) delivers a return on investment of up to $15.32 for every dollar spent, benefiting communities and conserving natural resources in partnership with Native Nations.

The program focuses on wildfire mitigation, trail maintenance, and habitat restoration.

The recent study by AmeriCorps highlights the significant economic and social benefits of national service programs like the Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps.

By investing in these initiatives, communities receive substantial returns through reduced wildfire-related costs and enhanced ecosystem services.

The ALCC collaborates with Native Nations such as Acoma Pueblo, Navajo Nation, Zuni Pueblo, and Hopi-Kykotsmovi to support environmental conservation efforts.

These partnerships are crucial in addressing critical issues like wildfire mitigation and habitat restoration while promoting cultural preservation.

Economic Advantages

  • Investment in ALCC yields up to $15.32 per dollar spent.
  • Reduced costs associated with wildfires benefit local economies.
  • Trail maintenance enhances tourism and recreational opportunities.

Collaborative Efforts

  • Partnerships with Native Nations strengthen community ties.
  • Workforce development training provided to AmeriCorps members.
  • Cultural resource projects protect both environment and heritage.

This study provides strong evidence that the Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps program model offers taxpayers an excellent return on their federal investment,

said Dr. Mary Hyde, Director of AmeriCorps Office of Research and Evaluation.

Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps works with tribal nations, federal, state, and local government agencies, local non-profits, colleges and universities, and other partners to provide workforce development training and complete critical natural and cultural resource projects that protect the environment and communities,

stated Chas Robles, Executive Director of ALCC.
