Seven Criminal Illegal Aliens Apprehended in Florida Keys Operation
In a decisive operation, U.S. Border Patrol agents in the Miami Sector, alongside state and local law enforcement, arrested seven illegal criminal offenders in the Florida Keys.
Each had extensive criminal records, reinforcing the ongoing multi-agency commitment to public safety and border security.
Multi-Agency Effort Targets Criminal Offenders
On March 21, 2025, Border Patrol agents from the Marathon, Florida Station, supported by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Key West Police Department, and the Florida Department of Corrections, executed a coordinated effort to detain individuals with prior criminal convictions.
According to authorities, the arrested individuals included:
- A Cuban national convicted of elder abuse.
- Two Cuban nationals convicted of drug trafficking (methamphetamine and oxycodone).
- A Guatemalan national convicted of DUI causing serious injury.
These arrests are part of Florida’s broader strategy to remove dangerous individuals from communities and strengthen border enforcement measures.
Prioritizing Community Safety
Florida’s law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to combat illegal immigration and criminal activity within the state.
Chief Patrol Agent Jeffrey Dinise emphasized the necessity of collaborative policing to uphold national security and public safety.
“No longer will criminal illegal aliens hide in the shadows of bureaucracy. In the State of Florida, we have removed the dividing lines between local, state, and federal jurisdictions, standing united to safeguard our communities.”
These actions align with previous operations, including an earlier initiative in which 10 previously convicted sex offenders were detained in the Florida Keys.
Criminal Backgrounds of Arrested Individuals
The following table outlines the offenders’ details:
Nationality | Prior Conviction | Offense Type |
---|---|---|
Cuban | Elder Abuse | Violent Crime |
Cuban | Trafficking Methamphetamine | Drug Crime |
Cuban | Trafficking Oxycodone | Drug Crime |
Guatemalan | DUI Causing Injury | Traffic Offense |
Enhanced Border Enforcement in Florida
The Miami Sector Border Patrol continues to intensify its efforts, partnering with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to ensure the detention and removal of criminal illegal aliens.
All individuals arrested during this operation are currently in ICE custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
Florida’s approach to immigration enforcement is part of a larger nationwide effort to address border security concerns, especially in high-risk regions like the Florida Keys, where maritime smuggling remains a persistent issue.
