Prioritizing Ukraine and Condemning Russian Aggression

Ambassador Holland emphasized the dire situation in Ukraine, stressing the importance of protecting civilians, especially national minorities, from Russia’s continued aggression.

The UK condemned Russia’s actions, noting that the pretext of protecting minority rights had led to significant suffering for those very groups.

Focus on Gender Mainstreaming

The UK highlighted the importance of addressing the intersectionality of gender and national minorities. Ambassador Holland emphasized the need for women’s full, equal, and meaningful participation in public life, including in peace and security efforts.

The UK expressed strong support for initiatives promoting gender mainstreaming and praised the High Commissioner’s focus on this critical area.

  • The UK’s support for gender mainstreaming initiatives aims to enhance women’s roles in public life.
  • Ambassador Holland commended the Office’s recognition of the importance of gender and minority intersectionality.

As High Commissioner Abdrakhmanov concludes his tenure, the UK extended heartfelt thanks and best wishes for his future endeavors. Ambassador Holland expressed gratitude for his dedicated service and highlighted the High Commissioner’s role in addressing challenges faced by national minorities across the region.
