On a crisp April day in Santiago de Chile, officials from Mexico and Chile gathered for their fifth bilateral meeting, reinforcing their commitment to tackle global challenges through strengthened multilateral cooperation.

Chaired by key diplomats, the session underscored a unified approach to promoting international peace and security.

Additionally, with a clear agenda to deepen the ties that bind these nations through shared values and initiatives, the meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing common issues effectively.

Mexico and Chile: A Commitment to Multilateralism and Global Cooperation

In the heart of Santiago, the undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights, Joel Hernández García, and his Chilean counterpart, Carla Serazzi, convened to discuss a range of pressing global issues.

In this significant meeting, they marked a renewed pledge to collaborative efforts, underscoring the pivotal role of multilateral organizations like the United Nations in fostering international stability.

Furthermore, they emphasized the need for concerted action in addressing shared challenges, reaffirming their commitment to working together towards common goals.

Moreover, they outlined plans for increased cooperation on various fronts, emphasizing the importance of unity in addressing shared challenges effectively.

 

Prioritizing Human Rights and Gender Equality

A Focused Dialogue on Feminist Foreign Policy and Human Rights

The delegations delved into discussions on enhancing the promotion and protection of human rights, with a particular focus on the upcoming 31st World Press Freedom Day Conference.

Mexico and Chile also shared strategies for advancing gender equality, through their respective Feminist Foreign Policy initiatives, reinforcing their commitment to empowering women and girls across both nations.

The dialogue included an exchange of best practices and future plans to integrate these policies more firmly into their national and international agendas.

 

Tackling Global Challenges Together

Unified Efforts in Facing Pandemics and Climate Change

Reviewing the progress of negotiations such as the Pact of the Future and pandemic response mechanisms under the World Health Organization, both countries acknowledged the importance of a unified response to global health crises.

They also discussed cooperative measures to address climate change and transnational crime, emphasizing the need for a coordinated approach in solving these critical issues.

The discussion also touched on their roles and contributions within the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and upcoming collaborations in environmental initiatives.
