In an exciting development for visa applicants, UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has introduced the Super Priority Visa (SPV) service in Hong Kong. This optional, paid-for service allows applicants to receive a faster decision on their UK visa, making it an attractive choice for those needing swift processing.

A Faster Route to the UK

The newly launched SPV service in Hong Kong provides a significant advantage for those who require quick decisions on their visa applications.

Unlike the standard visa processing time, which can take up to 15 working days, the SPV service promises a decision by the next working day if the application appointment is on a weekday. However, if the appointment falls on a weekend or public holiday, it may take up to two working days.

Cost and Availability

  • The SPV service is priced at £1,000, plus the standard visa fee.
  • Available exclusively in Hong Kong, this service is currently not offered to BN(O) visa applicants.

As the Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau, Brian Davidson CMG, stated,

“The introduction of this service will give customers more flexibility and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to enhancing visa services for Hong Kongers traveling to the UK.”

Understanding the Process

The SPV service is designed for applicants who prioritize speed. However, it’s important to note that certain factors may extend the processing time beyond the anticipated 1-2 working days.

For example, we may take longer to make a decision if we need additional documentation or if we require further verification of the information provided.

Common reasons for delays include:

  • Incomplete or inaccurate application details.
  • The need for additional evidence, such as proof of funds.
  • The necessity for an interview.

If the decision is delayed, applicants will not typically be refunded the SPV service fee. Therefore, it’s crucial to ensure all documents and information are accurate and complete before submitting the application.

Who Benefits Most?

The SPV service is particularly beneficial for business travelers, trade professionals, and others who require a visa decision at short notice. This expedited service offers greater flexibility and convenience, aligning with the needs of a fast-paced lifestyle.

Remember to check the latest visa decision waiting times and processing information on the official UK government website. Additionally, they should only visit the Visa Application Centre once they have received confirmation that their passport is ready for collection.

Food for Thought

The introduction of the Super Priority Visa (SPV) service in Hong Kong marks a significant enhancement in the UK’s visa processing options, offering applicants a faster and more flexible route to obtaining their visas.

Consequently, this new service underscores the UK’s commitment to strengthening ties with Hong Kong. Moreover, it provides tailored solutions that meet the evolving needs of visa applicants.

Additionally, the UKVI and VFS Global websites provide more detailed information on the SPV service, including the latest visa fees and processing times, for applicants to access.
