In a prestigious nod to academic excellence, the British Government has announced the 2025 Marshall Scholarship recipients. These 36 scholars, selected from nearly 1,000 applicants, will undertake graduate studies at some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed universities, starting in September 2025.

Celebrating 70 Years of Academic Excellence

The Marshall Scholarship, created in 1953, honours the enduring legacy of General George C. Marshall and the US aid delivered under the Marshall Plan after World War II. As a testament to UK–US collaboration, this program funds up to three years of postgraduate study in the UK.

This year’s cohort continues a tradition of excellence, joining over 2,200 alumni who have pursued advanced degrees at universities like Oxford, Cambridge, and Edinburgh.

Dame Karen Pierce, British Ambassador to the United States, remarked:

“Marshall Scholars represent the best of American society, tackling global challenges such as cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and space exploration. Their work strengthens the bond between our two nations.”

A Diverse Group of Scholars

This year’s scholarship winners showcase a breadth of talents and ambitions across various disciplines:

  • Kathryn Lampo (Columbia University): Designed autonomous robotic systems for space exploration and contributed to the launch of Columbia’s first cube satellites.
  • Travis Chai Andrade (Princeton University): Studied indigenous identity in Hawaii using historical postcards.
  • Kaylyn Ahn (Northwestern University): Advocates for victims’ rights and serves on Illinois’ Commission on Women and Girls.
