The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and Taskmaster Education have launched the ‘Taskmaster Club 100’ initiative, offering free creative lesson plans to 100 UK secondary schools.

This program aims to enhance students’ problem-solving, teamwork, and intellectual property awareness through engaging activities, with applications open from June 10 to August 15, 2025.

Empowering Future Innovators

The ‘Taskmaster Club 100’ initiative is a significant step towards equipping UK students with essential skills for the future.

By fostering creativity, teamwork, and intellectual property understanding, this program prepares students for the challenges of a digital economy.

The partnership between IPO and Taskmaster Education offers schools access to innovative resources that require minimal preparation from teachers.

Building on Past Efforts

This initiative builds on previous efforts by the IPO to integrate IP education into schools across the UK.

Inspired by Channel 4’s popular show Taskmaster, the program adapts its format for classrooms, focusing on developing problem-solving and resilience skills.

The flexibility of these activities allows them to be used in various educational contexts.

Opportunities for Schools

  • Access exclusive lesson plans from the ‘Taskmaster Club Bathtub’ series.
  • Participate in a national competition for a virtual lesson with Alex Horne.
  • Utilize activities for inter-house competitions and personal development lessons.
  • Benefit from positive feedback on improved student engagement and confidence.
  • Enjoy minimal preparation requirements for busy teachers.

A Broader Educational Trend

This initiative reflects broader educational trends towards interactive learning experiences that emphasize skill development over rote memorization.

By integrating entertainment elements into education, it aligns with global shifts towards more engaging teaching methods.

The UK’s leadership in creative industries positions it as a potential model for other countries looking to innovate their educational approaches.

Voices from the Field

“An understanding of IP and respect for others’ IP rights is a vital life skill,” said Adam Williams, CEO of IPO.

“The Taskmaster format uniquely encourages creative thinking.”

Alex Horne added that

“Taskmaster Club has already proven to be an immense hit in classrooms across the country.”

Katie Walker, Dean Trust Ardwick, Greater Manchester, said:

“Taskmaster club has been a great addition to our extra-curricular. In secondary school children start to become more socially conscious which can stop them from thriving and building key skills. Taskmaster combats this.”

Alex McKinnon, St Martin’s School, Shropshire, said:

“Guaranteed silliness that made me view my pupils’ creative skills with new eyes.”

Getting Involved

To join Taskmaster Club 100, schools simply need to complete a short application form online to register their interest – or in the words of Alex Horne: “click the link and fill in a thing.”

Applications open 10 June 2025, and successful schools will be notified by 1 September 2025.

To Sum Up

The ‘Taskmaster Club 100’ initiative represents an exciting opportunity for UK schools to enhance their educational offerings with creative resources that build crucial skills.

As this program unfolds, its impact on student engagement and skill development will be closely watched by educators seeking innovative ways to inspire future generations.
