On Saturday, November 2, the community is invited to American Family Fields of Phoenix, located at 3600 N. 51st Ave., to enjoy a vibrant evening of food, music, classic cars, and cultural tradition.

Councilwoman Guardado, who initiated El Pavazo, has made it a powerful expression of gratitude and family support. Her goal this year: to provide more than 1,000 working families with free turkeys, helping ensure everyone can celebrate a joyful Thanksgiving.

“For me, there is nothing more important than family,” said Councilwoman Guardado. “We want to make sure every family can have a Thanksgiving meal, especially in these challenging times.”

A Tradition That Makes a Difference

El Pavazo began as a modest gathering with a mission to support working families, and each year it has expanded, serving as an uplifting force in Phoenix’s community.

Events like these make a meaningful difference, especially in a state where 1 in 8 residents face food insecurity. For many attendees, receiving a turkey for Thanksgiving eases holiday expenses and provides a source of comfort and stability.

Beyond providing meals, El Pavazo fosters a shared experience that builds community bonds. Families attending the event have the chance to meet neighbors, make new friends, and connect with community leaders who work to support them year-round.

Cultural Significance of El Pavazo

El Pavazo proudly celebrates Phoenix’s vibrant Hispanic heritage through mariachi music and Dia de los Muertos traditions, showcasing the city’s rich cultural diversity.

In a city where over 40% of residents identify as Hispanic or Latino, this event is an opportunity to honor customs and traditions cherished by many.

The ofrenda invites attendees to honor loved ones who’ve passed, emphasizing family, remembrance and community.

American Family Fields of Phoenix

Held at the American Family Fields of Phoenix, the official spring training home of the Milwaukee Brewers, El Pavazo is in an ideal location to accommodate the hundreds of families expected to attend.

This spacious sports facility provides ample room for all activities, from car shows to community gatherings, while also offering attendees a comfortable and welcoming environment.

Join Us in Celebrating Thanksgiving Together

El Pavazo is more than an event; it’s a gathering of neighbors and a celebration of community, tradition, and gratitude. Phoenix invites all to unite on November 2 for family, food, music and giving back to those in need.

For more information, call 602-262-7446 or email Council.District.5@phoenix.gov. Let’s make this Thanksgiving season one to remember by celebrating unity, tradition, and the strength of our community.
