As a documented member of the Tren de Aragua gang, his presence posed a threat to community safety.

The coordinated effort by ICE, the FBI, and Texas authorities underscores the importance of inter-agency collaboration in addressing such threats.

His Immigration Record

Escalona-Mujicas had previously entered the U.S. illegally and was encountered by U.S. Border Patrol in April 2023.

Public Safety Efforts

The capture of Escalona-Mujicas is part of broader efforts to bolster public safety by removing dangerous individuals from communities.

  • It reflects ongoing efforts to address transnational crime through strategic partnerships.
  • The operation may encourage further international cooperation on similar issues.

Statements from Officials

Bret Bradford, Director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Houston Field Office stated,

Every transnational gang member or dangerous criminal alien that we remove from the community is another life saved, and another violent crime prevented.

This is especially true for Tren de Aragua gang members who are known to be among the most brutal transnational gangs with a presence in the U.S.
