Can the Philippine Air Force (PAF) soar to new heights? President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. believes so, and on the 77th founding anniversary of the Philippine Air Force in Pampanga, he reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering support for the capability development of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Commitment to Modernization

During his speech, President Marcos highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to enhance the AFP’s capabilities. These include acquiring additional air assets, enhancing cyber warfare communication systems, and pursuing base development programs.

“We have likewise acquired additional aircraft, as well as advanced radar systems, which have transformed our operational readiness and enhanced our operational reach,”

President Marcos said.

He emphasized that these assets contribute to an agile Air Force, capable of protecting the nation, its people, and resources with precision, speed, and force.

Recognizing the Guardians of the Skies

As Commander-in-Chief, President Marcos expressed his joy in joining the “faithful guardians” of the Philippine aerial domain on their special day.

He praised the Philippine Air Force for embodying the enduring spirit of Filipino freedom and extended his deepest gratitude to the valiant officers and personnel led by Lt Gen. Stephen Parreño.

He also congratulated those awarded for their outstanding performance.

The PAF organizes, trains, and equips forces for prompt and sustained air operations to defend the Philippines. President Marcos assured that the administration prioritizes the welfare of the AFP personnel, ensuring their health and wellness so they can perform their duties effectively and safely.

“Together, let us fortify our efforts to build a stronger Air Force and Armed Forces of the Philippines that will serve as an instrument for peace and for unity, a catalyst for nation-building, and a vanguard of stability,”

he added.

Enhancing Maritime Domain Awareness

President Marcos detailed significant steps taken to boost the PAF’s capability, including increased maritime domain awareness within the Philippine Air Defense Identification Zone.

Additionally, the government has supported internal security operations, leading to the surrender and neutralization of over 250 members of local insurgency groups.

“We have also heightened our international defense and security engagements by sustaining our talks with our foreign military counterparts and participating in multiple bilateral and multilateral military exercises,”

he noted.

These actions underscore the government’s resolve to contribute to global peace and security.

A Call for Unity and Dedication

President Marcos lauded the exemplary efforts of the Air Force, especially in providing prompt assistance through humanitarian and disaster response operations.

He urged the Philippine Air Force to remain united in their mission to protect the skies, defend the lands, and serve the Filipino people, guided by the ideals of a Bagong Pilipinas.
