Empowering Youth Worldwide with Innovation and Opportunity

UNESCO and K-pop icon SEVENTEEN are partnering to transform youth innovation by awarding $1 million in grants to 100 youth-led projects across 70 countries. This initiative empowers young people to address critical challenges through creativity, mentorship, and resources.

Introduction

UNESCO and SEVENTEEN are awarding financial grants to 100 inspiring, youth-led initiatives in 70 countries. These projects address challenges like mental health, environmental conservation, and community building.

By combining funding with mentorship, the program aims to empower a generation of changemakers.

Youth Innovation: Rising to Global Challenges

Today’s youth face mounting challenges, from mental health struggles to limited opportunities matching their aspirations. With 52% of the global population under 30, their potential for creating change is immense but often untapped due to resource constraints.

  • Why This Matters:

UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay emphasizes, “Young generations are a source of innovation, but they often lack funds and support. This program enables them to implement impactful solutions.”

Spotlight on Projects

Selected Initiatives Driving Change:

  1. Haiti: MakerLab Culture Youth and Girl initiative fosters social and technological innovation for youth and women in cultural industries.
  2. Zambia: DeafSmart Initiative trains deaf youth on digital safety.
  3. Philippines: Islands of Imagination Festival provides cultural expression and environmental education for island communities.
  4. Greece: SkatersCreators fights discrimination through skateboarding and art.

These projects span diverse fields—music, sports, technology, and mental health—fostering community improvement and global cooperation.
