Tucson Residents Gear Up for Zero Waste Collection Event on April 5
The City of Tucson is set to host a Zero Waste Collection event this Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the Catalina United Methodist Church parking lot from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This initiative offers residents an opportunity to responsibly dispose of unwanted items while supporting local community organizations.
Community Collaboration for Sustainability
This event is a collaborative effort between the City of Tucson’s Environmental Department and various community partners, including Mrs. Green’s World and Goodwill of Southern Arizona.
Launched in April 2022, the Tucson Zero Waste event aims to promote sustainability by encouraging residents to donate goods that can be recycled or repurposed.
Residents can drop off items such as school supplies, gardening tools, electronic waste (E-waste), and more.
However, it’s important to note that this is not a Household Hazardous Materials collection event; hazardous materials like paint and batteries will not be accepted.
What This Means for Homeowners
- Dispose of unwanted items responsibly
- Support local organizations through donations
- Contribute to environmental sustainability efforts
Effect on Local Businesses
Local businesses stand to benefit significantly from this initiative. By promoting community engagement and sustainability, the event encourages residents to donate reusable items that can be resold or repurposed by vendors like Goodwill of Southern Arizona.
This not only supports local businesses but also fosters a culture of environmental responsibility within the community.
Additional Information
This is not a Household Hazardous Waste event.
Paint, fluorescent lights, chemicals and batteries will not be accepted at this event. Please bring those to Eastside City Hall on Saturday, April 12.
