Shaping Tucson’s Green Spaces for the Future

Tucson residents have a unique opportunity to influence the future of two beloved parks.

The City of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department is inviting community members to an open house to review and provide feedback on proposed improvements to the Gene C. Reid Park Outdoor Performance Center and the Randolph Park 22nd Street Path and Dell Urich Golf Course concept plan.

The event takes place on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2025, from noon to 2 p.m. at Gene C. Reid Park, 800 S. Concert Place.

Public Meeting Details and Participation

Attendees at the open house will have access to detailed concept plans and a walkthrough of the proposed enhancements. Staff members will be available to answer questions, ensuring the community has the chance to share thoughts before final decisions are made.

Additionally, for those unable to attend in person, video walkthroughs and online surveys are available until Feb. 17 at 11:45 p.m. on the project websites.

Gene C. Reid Park Outdoor Performance Center Upgrades

The city will upgrade the Outdoor Performance Center, a staple for community events, with a focus on accessibility and functionality. Tucson Delivers Proposition 407, a voter-approved bond, allocates $225 million toward park improvements, funding this initiative.

In 2023, event hosts provided feedback on necessary enhancements, leading to a refined concept plan that prioritizes ADA accessibility and infrastructure upgrades. Residents are encouraged to review the plan at tucsonparks.info/reidpark.

Randolph Park and Golf Course Enhancements

The Randolph Park project builds upon a 2023 feasibility study conducted by Sasaki. The study explored ways to integrate green spaces around the Dell Urich Golf Course while improving pedestrian access along 22nd Street.

In September 2024, additional input was gathered, leading to the development of a more detailed concept plan. The latest version of the plan is now available for review at tucsonparks.info/randolph.

Why Community Input Matters

Public participation ensures these projects reflect the needs and aspirations of Tucson residents. By attending the open house or submitting feedback online, community members can help shape recreational spaces that foster inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability.
