Parliamentary Secretary Rob Oliphant will attend the 54th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Asunción, Paraguay, from June 26 to 29. This visit aims to reinforce Canada’s commitment to supporting democratic governance, human rights, and regional security in the Western Hemisphere.

 

Canada’s Commitment to Democracy and Human Rights

Parliamentary Secretary Oliphant’s participation at the OAS General Assembly highlights Canada’s steadfast dedication to democratic values and human rights. Canada has always been a vocal advocate for gender equality, inclusion, and respect for diversity. At the assembly, Oliphant will reaffirm these commitments, emphasizing the importance of upholding the rule of law and protecting human rights across the Americas.
